John Schuerman: “The most good that I can imagine myself doing in life is through art. Good art is psychoactive; it affects the mind of the viewer. It changes those that participate.

"Current works were completed because, as an artist, I wanted to try to understand the relationship between nature and the urban landscape. Each piece was inspired by an object or fragment found by walking through neighborhoods. After recording the fragments, either by rubbing their texture onto paper or by retrieving them, the fragments then became the point of departure for a series of works on paper, oil paintings, and small sculptures.

"These urban fragments have been caught in a moment of time, documented, and then reinterpreted through the act of making art."
